After 8 years of frontline duty in the ambulance service, with most of those as a paramedic responding to various emergencies and urgent situations, I have now joined the primary care network team as a home visiting paramedic. I visit a wide variety of patients within the Eastleigh Southern parishes locality, who are not able to get to the practices due to various medical issues. I will assess, initiate treatment or send for further investigations, whilst working in the community or within the hospital setting. I am able to keep patients out of hospital, where possible and make sure there seen within a timely fashion.
This role is hugely valuable to aid GPs within primary care, enabling them to see more patients in surgery, and I love being out and about seeing patients in their own homes.
I work from 0900-1700 Monday to Friday and receive referrals from the Primary Care Network practices.
