Abi
Gender: Female
My name is Abi, and I am a mental health nurse. I have a degree in psychology and qualified as a nurse in 2010. Prior to the position of mental health practitioner at the primary care hub, I worked in adult inpatient mental health settings as both a nurse and an activities coordinator.
As my career has progressed, I have come to recognise my passion for advocating for patient centred care and developing effective therapeutic relationships with patients to ensure their needs and goals are met wherever possible. I have been involved in a project that was working to reduce restrictive practices for patients in hospital and holding regular community meetings with patients to ensure they are involved in the process of service improvement.
I have a keen interest in holistic approaches to mental health care and enjoy teaching mindfulness as well as cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy-based skills.
